Blue Monday Music Arrangement

This is a rock style arrangement of the song Blue Monday by New Order.

The combination of instruments – guitar, bass, drums, and piano – create a sound familiar to rock music, as that is common instrumentation in that style. The choir used in the 'verse' adds a subtle softness that is uncommon in the style. It is also an uncommon instrument. I think the crunch of the rhythm guitar combined with the choir is unique sound.

The most significant change to the melody has been note changes, to fit the new key of my arrangement, which is A major. C, F and G became sharps, and this semitone increase has altered the sound and mood of the melody, as F and C appear often. Different instrumentation also created this change. A plucked guitar is played in a low octave to simulate the low tones of the original vocals, and to modulate the mood of the song.
