NRG - Neon Rhythm Gunner

Neon Rhythm Gunner immerses players in a pulsating, cyber city where they will shoot colour-coded targets that dynamically appear around a 360-degree space, matching their gun colours to the target colour. Players rack up points by shooting targets on the beat, striving for the top spot on the leader board, without fear of failing.
My Role in the Project
I was responsible for sourcing and editing sound effects, and the main menu UI.
I created a crowd chant sound that loops in the menu. This was done by sourcing recording clips of teammates and friends saying 'NRG' in two different ways. These were all imported to my DAW, edited to be approximately in sync with one another, adding reverb, then using an equaliser to pan the sound to the left and right, to better simulate a crowd.

I created this sound to make the player feel energised before they being play. I wanted them to feel like they were at or performing at a concert. This would make them feel immersed and easier to enter flow state.
A clap sound is layered on the voice recordings, to add rhythm to the sound effect.

User Interface Design
The UI design was heavily inspired by BeatSaber.
As seen above, I borrowed several elements from Beatsaber's UI design. Panels are transparent, and minimalistic, featuring a simple colour scheme and limited graphics. These panels are located in the player starting area, and occupy a 180 degree area in front of the player.
Similar inspiration was taken when creating the game logo.
I replicated the neon sign effect in a drawing program, in a variation of the font we use for the in game text. This fits the aesthetic of the cyberpunk environment, particularly the neon lights in the game environment.
